Lame-a-thology for dummies

My countrymen

I never came to terms with the game of golf. One man, trying his luck to hit a hole in one or an eagle, and when he does it consistent enough, he calls it ‘skill’. Today, I witnessed an even bigger outrageous sporting event…………….. horse racing.

My countrymen was just mad! Spending hundreds of pounds on liquor, bets, clothes, just for an evening of horse racing that does not even last 5 minutes per race. I really can’t explain what is becoming of them…….Haih.

Anyway, I enjoyed watching the rich Brits coming out on their evening, in full glamour, overhearing their politically correct conversations and rather fake jokes…. But that is how it is……….The best way, the British way!

So, looks like I don’t have a choice. Got to teach myself to enjoy horse racing soon. (minus the alcohol though)

Back at my home country

I have had lots of complains from ‘fans’ that I have not been consistent enough in my blog. My apologies. I have been away for about 10 days or so on a trip. As much as the trip was nice, it feels great to be back where I belong…………..England.

After touring Paris and Italy, I found that as soon as I reached Newcastle, I felt like I was back home. Moving from the UK to France and then to Italy, I realised that in all its splendour, the EU still has much to learn from the UK and I wonder if the EU would do any good to the UK with its already high standards. The outskirts of Paris was as dirty as Pudu and the situation in Rome, ie the management of things, corruption, lazy officers, was as bad, if not worse than some of the Asian countries. We were on the train leaving to Pisa and the train was delayed. To make things worse, the conductor kept shoving in passengers to an already packed train with malfunctioned air-conditioning in the heat of the summer. At that time, I thought to myself, even Putra LRT has better air-conditioning and someone to control the crowd during peak hours. And of course in my country, such things will not happen.

So much for the glamour of Europe tours. I feel that Euro tours are over-rated. The amount of money you pay. The difficluties in finding good food, and even if you manage to find good food, it would be expensive. Don’t get me wrong…………Europe is nice……but it does not make the attractions in any Asian countries any inferior. Nevertless, I carry much wonderful memories with me in this recent trip. If I have extra money after touring my Asian countries, I would mind returning………….probably with a private chef!!

I have just been thinking, there are many ways in which our friends shape us. Our manner of speech, our actions, our likes, our dislikes, our activities, our food etc. Like how I am now better at speaking Honglish coz I have a couple of Hong Kong friends here.

But what identity do you carry as Anil’s friend? It will be great to hear from u people first (hopefully there are fellas reading my blog). But in the event no one responds, then as a face-saving mechanishm, I will come out with my own list la.

In deep thought,

Anil

Will mussels bring muscles?

I ended up paying RM49.00 for some mussels dish today. Meant to be my flat’s post-exam celebration dinner. It wasn’t too bad la, but I wouldn’t trade mussels for my Malaysian si ham, when added with the char keow teow…………..fuhh i tell you, the taste is superb. It taste even better if eaten in Kampar market coz u pay something like RM2.20 only.

Then came the painful part as we were eating dinner. Here was Anil, all concerned about having mussels and its high cholestrol and its impact on my already excessive body weight. And beside me were two girls, whose combined weight would not even equal to my body weight in whole, whacking one kilo of mussels each as if mussels were getting extinct the very next day. After whacking that 1 kilo ah, one of them said she wants to go home and have rice, and the other said that she was not really full.

And poor Anil, ordered half a kilo of mussels, ate it with great care, pondering which part of my belly would accomodate this excess food, which my body suggests I do not need. Why is it so unfair? I always have friends wating more than me and they never grow! I grow, and grow side-ways. Non-stop from day one till now.

I watched as they finished their 1 kilo of mussels. I was still a bit hungry and I contemplated having another bun. After much thought, I called for the waiter and made that guilty confession of my need for a bread. And I got my bread…………..and the waiter said that I can have it for free!!!! Fuhh, I tell you, the feeling of getting anything free in England is just inexplainable. Then in pure asian culture, steep with its tradition of kiasuism, my friend also requested for another bread. Value for money mah. The waiter just smiled.

It was the end of yet another dinner. Content with the free bread and a filled stomach, we journeyed up Grey’s Street in Newcastle. Then I did my trademark ‘pull my pants up’ thing and whispered in my heart……my mussles will turn muscles someday. Im sure it will.

Sealed with lameness and exaggeration,

Anil.

In the begining………..Anil saw blogs and called them bad!

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A bit surprised to see me here eh? I’m surprised myself. It’s is probably the after exam boredom that has got me started on blogs. To be honest……..I always had a negative view on blogs(and to a certain extent, I still do). I don’t deny that some blogs are really good. But some blogs are just bad. Like super bad. People end up writing their diaries on it. Hence, I always viewed blogs as a wonderful place for stalkers. After great thought, I finally decided that no one would bother stalking me and hence it is quite safe for me to blog now I suppose.

Also maybe coz I am more computer-savvy here in the UK. I know what is YouTube now u know!! Also started learning how to use emoticons in MSN chats here in the UK. Not bad eh? Insyallah, I will be as diligent as I possibly can to quench the thirst of your need for lameness.

But don’t come with too high expectations la. Coz what may be lame to someone may not be lame to another. And lameness is in fact an internal force. Treat it with respect and you get the best of lamity that you can expect. Treat it with disrespect, it desserts you and scars you for life. Hence come to my blog with an open mind. We’ll see how things move on from there………….ahem. Hahahaha

Ok ok. Long enough for today I guess. Till we meet again, keep the lameness going!!

ryaniL (which is in fact a combination of me, the real anil and me, the real footballer ryan gigss………..hence ryaniL. Get used to this terms people! Very essential to stay in the flow of my syllabus!)
